Daniel Lloyd will seek to raise vital funds for charity over the remainder of the 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season following the launch of his all-new DLR Shopify store.
The online store – which can be found at www.dlrstore.co.uk – will provide fans of Huddersfield-based Daniel with the opportunity to purchase products from his recently launched range of merchandise, with adult t-shirts and caps now available for sale.
A selection of t-shirts for children are amongst the products that will be added in the near future.
Daniel will use the new Shopify store to help raise funds for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice; the West Yorkshire-based hospice that he has supported for a number of years.
Having already raised over £8,000 so far this year through track day and race day donations to a special Valentines Ball auction, Daniel will now donate 20 per cent of the profits from every sale made via the Shopify store to the hospice.
The money will go towards supporting children with life-shortening conditions, as well as their families.
“The launch of the new merchandise range and store is something we had planned for a long time, and obviously anyone who buys anything will be supporting me in a small way after recent events,” Daniel said.
“However, the goal was always to use the store to also raise money for the Forget Me Not Hospice to help with the fantastic work that it carries out, and it’s great that anyone who wants to support me will also be helping such a worthy charity at the same time.
“The charity auction earlier in the year was a massive success and with a personal aim to try and raise over £10,000 this year, hopefully the Shopify store will help me to move closer to that goal.”
“We’re extremely grateful to Daniel for his continued support and fundraising for Forget Me Not, which means the world to us and the children and families we support,” Alison Parker, partnerships manager at Forget Me Not, added.
“We’re really excited about Daniel’s new Shopify store and we hope it’s a great success!”
The launch of the new store comes as Daniel gets set to return to action this weekend at Croft barely two weeks after a high-speed accident at Oulton Park that left his Hyundai i30 Fastback N extensively damaged.
Since then, Daniel’s EXCELR8 Motorsport team has burnt the midnight oil to get the car race ready for the trip to North Yorkshire to allow the 30-year-old to keep his championship campaign on track.
Prior to the accident, Daniel had scored points in every race run this season to sit inside the top ten in the championship standings and he will now seek to replicate that kind of form during the weekend ahead before the series enters a month long summer break.
“I have to give a massive thank you for all the support there has been since the accident, and it is difficult to find the words for how hard the team has worked to get the car ready for Croft,” he said.
“The damage proved to be worse than we initially feared and they have done a monumental job to not only get the car fixed in time for the weekend, but also in time for us to give it a shakedown run beforehand to make sure everything is okay.
“What has happened over the past two weeks has only increased my determination to succeed on track this weekend, and if I can get a good result this weekend, it will be for all of those people who stepped up to help.
“Croft is a circuit I enjoy and where I scored my only BTCC win so far, and it goes without saying that I want to add to that – and it would be a dream come true if I could do it this weekend.”
Daniel will be cheered on trackside this weekend by guests from primary partners 24/7 Blinds and Abracs, with work ongoing to bring new partners onboard to maintain his championship challenge.
“With the bill for repairs to the car being more than double my damage budget, we have a lot of work still to do,” Daniel added. “We’ve had some positive discussions with people who are interested in getting involved and talks are ongoing.
“As I’ve said before, I’m keen to speak to anyone who would like to come onboard and have packages to suit businesses both small and large, whilst I’m also working on a few interesting ideas for those who would like to get involved at a smaller level.”
