Daniel Lloyd will aim to go into the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship’s summer break on a high with three strong results this weekend at Oulton Park.

Huddersfield-based racer Daniel heads into the meeting on the back of a double top-ten finish last time out at Thruxton, where he also grabbed a third Independents’ Trophy victory of the campaign.

Outscoring all of the remaining Independent drivers in Hampshire allowed Daniel to move to within 30 points of the championship lead; a gap he will now look to cut still further during the fifth meeting of the season.

Having gone close to scoring a first podium finish for the Restart Racing team already this season, Daniel goes into the weekend looking to challenge for silverware at a circuit where the Hyundai i30 Fastback N has been a strong package in the past.

With his team continuing to gain knowledge and experience of the car, Daniel will hope to try and fight his way into the Quick Six in qualifying to earn a place towards the sharp end of the grid – which could be particularly important given given that overtaking at the Cheshire circuit is far from straightforward.

In what are expected to be challenging warm conditions, a strong qualifying result would then provide Daniel with the best possibility opportunity to secure a big haul of points to take into the BTCC’s summer break.

Daniel has a solid record at Oulton Park in the past, having scored three top eight finishes in his last six BTCC races at the venue.

It was however also where he suffered arguably the biggest incident of his racing career after a high-speed shunt in race three in 2022 almost brought his season to an early end.

“Even after my big accident at Oulton Park, I still love the circuit because it provides such a challenge as a driver,” he said. “There’s no real room to make a mistake without being punished for it, and it’s a great feeling when you hook up a lap and really get it right.

“I know from past experience that the Hyundai is a car that goes well at Oulton Park, and I’m confident that we can be up there fighting in the top ten this weekend when you take into account everything we have been able to learn over the first four rounds.

“We’re only going to get stronger as the team gains more and more knowledge of the car, which is promising for me given that the circuits that are coming up include some where I’ve had good results previously.

“I’m looking for three strong results to take into the summer break and it would be great if we could also maintain our momentum in the Independents’ Championship to get closer to the front.”

Guests from DEVELOP, Technology Desking, Heatworks, Prosynergi and the Daniel Lloyd Members Club will all be in attendance to cheer Daniel on trackside.

Those unable to be there in person able to cheer him on can see all the action from Sunday’s three races on ITV4 and ITVX at 12:20, 14:40 and 17:05.
