Daniel Lloyd will hope to add to his tally of top-ten finishes in the 2023 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship when the series heads to Snetterton this weekend for the third round of the year.
Huddersfield-racer Daniel goes into the meeting looking to make up ground in the championship standings, with the 31-year-old currently sitting 17th overall – and third in the Independents’ Trophy – after the opening two rounds.
At the wheel of his Team HARD-run Cupra Leon, Daniel has shown strong pace at both Donington Park and Brands Hatch, although luck has not been on his side thus far – restricting him to a single top ten result from the first six races.
At Donington Park in round one, Daniel was forced to fight back from contact in the opening race of the day to put his first points of the year on the board, whilst at Brands Hatch, he made it through to the Top Ten Showdown in qualifying and bagged a maiden top ten finish in the Cupra before finding himself caught up in the midfield melees in the remaining two races.
Daniel goes into the Snetterton weekend hoping to break back into the top ten and fight for his best results to date with his new team at a circuit where he has gone well in the past.
Since joining the BTCC on a full-time basis, Daniel has a 100 per cent scoring record at the longest circuit on the calendar and will be eager to keep that run going with a focus firmly on trying to better his seasonal best, and put three strong points finishes on the board.
Daniel will be cheered on trackside this weekend by partner Mark Webb Building, who will benefit from behind-the-scenes access throughout race day, whilst Snetterton will be the first meeting in which he is able to show off his recently announced partnership with Censol.
“We always knew that the start of the season would be tough with little pre-season testing and a brand new car, but the first two rounds have shown plenty of promise,” Daniel said. “We might not have got the overall results we were looking for yet, but we’ve scored points in four of the six races and have shown flashes of our speed – what we now need is to make sure we do it on a more consistent basis.
“It’s going to be an interesting weekend with the tyre rules and the fact that we have to run different compounds in each of the three races, because there was a big difference between the soft and the medium at Brands Hatch – and we haven’t even run the hard tyre yet. We’re not the only ones in that boat so everyone is taking a bit of a step into the unknown but with everything we have learned over the first two rounds, I’m confident we can be in the mix for some top ten finishes.
“If we can then benefit from the reverse grid and get up towards the front, then who knows, maybe we could also bring home our first silverware of the year.”
