Huddersfield’s Daniel Lloyd returns to familiar ground this coming weekend as the TCR UK Series arrives at Cheshire’s picturesque Oulton Park circuit for rounds 9 and 10 on August 4th.
Lloyd and the WestCoast Racing team celebrated his 7th win from 8 races last time out, with driver, team and Championship all making their debut on Wiltshire’s Castle Combe circuit. After dominating the series so far this season, 26-year-old Lloyd is keen to carry his current momentum into the weekend to extend his 82 point lead at the top of the standings.
The Yorkshireman faces a tough challenge on the twisty and undulating International circuit layout; with the #23 WestCoast Racing Golf GTI once again carrying the full 60kg of comparison weight into the weekend’s practise and qualifying sessions as well as both 30 minute races.
“I’m really looking forward to going to Oulton Park in the TCR car;” commented Lloyd. “I love it. It’s one of my favourite circuits in the UK. I do think of it as my home circuit, even though it’s in Cheshire. It’s my closest track and I have a lot of great memories there.”
“I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in. Hopefully the compensation weight won’t be as much of a disadvantage for us this weekend;” he added. “The Honda will be running with 20kg so that should help us out a little.”
“We need to keep the momentum going into the final rounds. I lost a win last time, so it’s made me more determined to push for pole and another clean sweep again.”
Rounds 9 and 10 of the TCR UK series take place at Oulton Park, Cheshire on August 4th. Saturdayplays host to a morning practice session at 09.00 and 30 minute qualifying session 11.00, before heading into the two, 30 minute races scheduled for 13.55 and 16.25 local time.
