Huddersfield’s Daniel Lloyd has his sights firmly set on securing a vital haul of championship points this coming weekend, as the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship heads North of the border for rounds 13, 14 and 15 at Knockhill Racing circuit (August 14/15).
The 29-year-old is eager to bounce back from a disappointing weekend last time out at Oulton Park and aiming to mark the midway point of the 2021 season with a strong showing on the challenging Fife track.
Racing at the Scottish circuit for the first time since 2018, Lloyd is hopeful that the balance and performance issues that have plagued his Adrian Flux with Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall Astra during the earlier rounds have been overcome as the notoriously twisty and narrow circuit layout commands a unique challenge on the BTCC calendar with limited opportunities for overtaking.
Daniel Lloyd #123: “I’m really looking forward to this weekend. It’s been a while since I last raced there, but Knockhill is an incredible circuit. It demands your full respect at all times and can bite back hard if you get it wrong.
“I’ve taken wins there in the TCR championship, but I’m yet to make it onto the BTCC podium. It would be great to realise that dream, but I have to be realistic going into the weekend. We’re still playing catch-up to a lot of the front-runners. Our balance issues meant that we haven’t been able to show our true pace yet – but I’m hoping that we’ll make a breakthrough in Scotland.
“Although we haven’t got the usual mid-summer break this year, it’s always good to go into the second half of the season on a high note.”
“We’ve got a good crowd of ABRACS guests and supporters joining us in Scotland for the weekend, and I plan on putting on a great show for them all.”
