Daniel Lloyd says he is confident that Snetterton will provide an upturn in fortunes as the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship heads for Norfolk for the third meeting of the campaign.
Having inked a deal with the Restart Racing team to return to the grid this season, Huddersfield racer Daniel had showed encouraging pace at the wheel of his Hyundai i30 Fastback N across the opening two meetings, going close to the Quick Six in qualifying at both Donington Park and Brands Hatch.
Unfortunately, incidents outside his control have had an impact on the race results so far, with Daniel going into this weekend looking to now make up ground in the standings.
Despite the misfortune he has faced, Daniel continues to look at the positives as he prepares to return to a circuit where he has enjoyed solid results throughout his touring car career to date.
Although yet to make it onto the podium at the longest circuit on the calendar, Daniel has scored points in all bar one of his twelve starts to date and will go into the weekend with the benefit of maximum boost.
Given that Snetterton is home to two of the longest straights in the UK, that additional boost could be crucial in qualifying and the opening race as Daniel looks to make the most of the pace in the Hyundai to fight for three strong results.
“We’ve not had the start we wanted this season in terms of the results, but everyone can see the reasons why and that it’s been down to things we can’t control,” he said. “We know that the Hyundai is a quick car and every time we go out on track, we’re developing it that little bit more and finding extra pace.
“It leaves me feeling confident heading to Snetterton, which is a circuit that I enjoy and which I think suits me as a driver more than Donington Park or Brands Hatch. There is also the possibility that we may have some rain this weekend, which could also play in favour.
“We know what we are capable of, and we know we have the equipment to do the job. I’m hoping for a positive weekend results wise and three strong points scores.”
Daniel will be cheered on this weekend by guests from DEVELOP, Autobrite Direct Technology Desking, Posynergi and Calder IT, whilst those at home will be able to follow him in action on both YouTube and ITV4.
Qualifying will take place at 15:10 on Saturday and will be streamed online, with Sunday’s three races on both ITV4 and ITVX at 11:30, 13:25 and 16:55.
