Daniel Lloyd will hope to wrap up a first title in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship this weekend as the series heads for Brands Hatch for the final meeting of the 2025 season.
Hudderfield racer Daniel makes the long trip to the Kent circuit holding a slender lead at the top of the Independents’ Trophy standings having moved into the championship lead last time out at Silverstone.
There, he secured a brace of class wins at the wheel of his Restart Racing-run Hyundai i30 Fastback N, one of which marked his fifth overall victory in Britain’s premier racing series.
It also made him only the second Independent driver in the last three seasons to make it onto the top step of the podium.
Going into the season finale, Daniel – who will carry fresh backing from ISPEED – sits just five points clear of Mikey Doble, whilst team-mate Chris Smiley is only eight points further back in third – setting up a three-way showdown for the title.
As well as being buoyed by his performance at Silverstone, Daniel will arrive at Brands Hatch in confident mood given his previous results at the iconic circuit, which include a victory back in 2023.
With experience of what it takes to win around the GP layout and a proven package underneath him, Daniel’s focus will be to try and break into the Quick Six in qualifying on Saturday and then fight hard for three front-running results to help secure the crown.
Qualifying will live on YouTube at 15:15 on Saturday afternoon before the three races on Sunday are broadcast both on ITV4 and ITVX. Race one is scheduled for 11:25, with races two and theee at 14:05 and 17:30 respectively.
As was the case last time out at Silverstone, Daniel will once again carry onboard ITV cameras, providing additional coverage for his partners across the weekend.
“When we only managed eleven points from the first weekend of the season at Donington Park, I thought we were already out of contention for the Independents’ title so to be leading the way as he head to Brands Hatch is fantastic,” he said.
“We’ve had a season of ups and downs but we are going into the final weekend on a real high after the win at Silverstone which has been a massive boost in confidence for me, and was also fantastic for the team who has worked so hard on the Hyundai this season.
“Going into Brands Hatch, anything could happen with it being the title decider but I’m confident that we’ll be in a strong position given how we have improved the car and also how it has performed around the GP loop in the past.
“I know what it takes to win around Brands Hatch and whilst that would be fantastic again this weekend, the priority is on making sure we score the points that we need to wrap up the championship, which would be a dream result for myself, the team and all of the partners who have made this season possible.”
