Daniel Lloyd will hope to fight for silverware in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship when the series heads to Silverstone this weekend for the penultimate meeting of the 2026 season.
Huddersfield-racer Daniel will be taking part in his third weekend of competition after being drafted back into the Restart Racing line-up, and heads for the famous Northamptonshire circuit on the back of a solid outing on home soil at Croft earlier this month.
Three points finishes, including a pair of top seven finishes, marked a return to form for the reigning Independents champion after a tough outing at Donington Park, meaning confidence is now high ahead of an outing at the Home of British Motorsport.
Silverstone was the scene of Daniel’s best weekend last season as he qualified his Hyundai i30 Fastback N on the second row of the grid before battling his way to victory in the opening race.
That victory would be the first for the Restart Racing team and played a key role in Daniel’s Independents’ Trophy success as he established a championship lead that he would then retain on Finals Day.
Given previous successes, and with confidence boosted by the Croft results, Daniel will hope to challenge towards the sharp end of the grid again this time around with his goal being to try and secure his first silverware of the campaign whilst also helping to boost the team’s position in the Independents Teams’ Trophy.
Saturday’s qualifying race is scheduled for 15:05 and will air on YouTube, with three races on Sunday taking place at 11:15, 14:30 and 17:20 – all of which will be live on ITv4 and ITVX.
“After a difficult first weekend back at Donington Park, Croft was much more positive and we were able to come away with three solid finishes and having made good progress with the car,” Daniel said.
“It has given us a real platform to build on for the final two meetings of the year at circuits where I know we are capable of some really strong results, and I’m particularly excited about this weekend given the success we enjoyed at Silverstone last year.
“Although all of the Hyundais were struggling with straight-line speed at Croft, we know the i30 is a strong package around the National layout, and the obvious target is to try and repeat our win from twelve months ago. I’ll be giving my all to try and reward the team for their efforts with some silverware, and it would also be fantastic if I could repay the sponsors who have made this return possible with a trophy.”
