Daniel Lloyd will hope to rebound from a tough meeting at Donington Park when the Porsche Carrera Cup GB hits Silverstone this weekend for the penultimate rounds of the season.

Huddersfield-racer Daniel had been showing strong race pace at the wheel of his Toro Verde GT-car on his return to the fastest one-make series in the UK, with a run of six top ten finishes in seven races prior to the trip to Donington Park last month.

The race pace was again evident in the East Midlands but, for the third successive meeting, Daniel was left to rue a challenging qualifying session on Saturday that left him out of position for race day.

Given the highly competitive nature of the field, that left him embroiled in a number of heated battles on track that restricted him to a best finish of ninth in the Pro class despite showing he had the pace to run higher up the order.

Heading to Silverstone this weekend, Daniel will now look to try and return to the kind of form that saw him score a double top six at Thruxton earlier in the year as he bids to end his Carrera Cup programme on a high over the final two weekends of the season.

A busy day of pre-event testing around the Silverstone National layout provided Daniel with the opportunity to work on setting up his car for the race weekend and ended with him setting a best time just six tenths of a second off the pace.

Daniel will now aim to maximise his potential in Saturday’s qualifying session to secure a stronger starting slot for the two races scheduled for this weekend, allowing him to then benefit from his race pace to fight for a solid haul of points.

“We know qualifying has been our achilles heel in recent events and a big focus this weekend is going to be on trying to improve our performance on Saturday,” he said.

“When the grid is so competitive and the times are so close, a tenth of a second in qualifying can have a major impact on how race day ten pans out, so we have to try and make sure that we get the most out of the car and qualify up where we should be on the grid for the two races.

“Even when we got caught up in some drama at Donington and sustained some damage to the car, our race pace was still strong so I’m confident that if we can nail qualifying and start higher up the order then we’ll be able to challenge for some solid results.

“With two rounds left, I really want to try and fight up towards the front so we can end the year on a high.”
