Back behind the wheel of the Honda Civic Type R TCR machine, the Huddersfield-based racer will partner Brutal Fish Racing Team Owner Martin Ryba, completing the squad’s two-car championship assault.
Lloyd secured the inaugural TCR UK Championship Title in stunning style last season, taking 4 out of a possible 7 pole positions, 8 race wins and a further 4 podium finishes from the series’ 14 races and has extensive international and European experience having previously competed in numerous major touring car and sports car series’ around the globe.
“TCR Europe is something that I’ve wanted to do since winning the TCR UK title last year;” commented Lloyd. “That was always my goal.”
“This is exactly where I want to be to breakthrough with my racing career. I’ve got a title under my belt already with a national championship. This is the next step up.”
“I’m really excited to be joining the Brutal Fish Racing team. I’ve been coaching Martin [Ryba] for a month or so now, and the drive is something that we’ve been working on for a while;” explained Lloyd. “We didn’t quite get the deal together in time for the full season, but after the first round, we’ve managed to secure a seat for the remaining six rounds which is mega.
“It’s great as I’ll be racing the Honda as well, so it’s a nice connection with what I’m doing in TCR China. I really am looking forward to this season, now.”
Rounds 3 and 4 of the TCR Europe series take place on the Hockenheimring, Germany, on May 25/26.
