Daniel Lloyd has his sights firmly fixed on his best results of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB season to date when the season roars back into life at Croft this weekend.
Huddersfield-based racer Daniel heads for the North Yorkshire circuit having enjoyed a solid performance at Thruxton prior to the summer break, where he carried his Toro Verde GT-run car to a pair of top six finishes over the course of the weekend.
Buoyed by his results at the fastest circuit in the UK, Daniel headed for Croft earlier this month for a day of official testing alongside the remainder of the Carrera Cup field, with the #123 Porsche inside the top five throughout the day.
Although he is yet to finish on the podium at Croft in the Carrera Cup, Daniel has enjoyed plenty of success at the venue in the past – including his maiden win in the British Touring Car Championship in 2018 and an emotional victory in 2022 just two weeks after a high-speed accident Oulton Park had threatened to derail his season.
Keen to try and move up into the top ten in the championship standings, Daniel will hope to battle for more silverware during the weekend ahead, and can count on the support of a number of his commercial partners, with First Locate, NUTREIN, Green View Projects, Marc Webb Building and Mongoose Social all set to cheer him on trackside for the latest two races of the year.
“The first few rounds of the season were all about finding my feet with the Type 992 version of the Carrera Cup car, which is very different to the car I raced back in 2016 during my last season in the series,” he said.
“At Thruxton, I feel like I really turned a corner with it, which was reflected in the results – and the only shame was that we then went into the summer break when I just wanted to get back out on track!
“When we did return to action in the recent test, we were able to build on the performance from Thruxton and showed strong pace, which leaves me feeling confident for the weekend ahead. I’d certainly say this is the best position I’ve been in going into a race meeting this year and my focus is very much on trying to push for the podium places to kick off the second half of the season in the best way possible.”
