Daniel Lloyd will look to build on the encouraging results he secured last time out at Snetterton when the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship heads to Thruxton this weekend for the fourth meeting of the season.
Huddersfield-based racer Daniel enjoyed his best weekend of the campaign by far two weeks ago in Norfolk where he powered his Restart Racing-run Hyundai i30 Fastback N to a pair of top five finishes – both of which resulted in him securing victory in the Independents’ class.
Those results were a true reflection of Daniel’s pace at the wheel of the Hyundai after a difficult start to the season where incidents outside the control or him or the team had prevented him from challenging for front-running results on his return to Britain’s premier racing series.
Having briefly led the second race at Snetterton and gone close to scoring a first BTCC podium for the team, Daniel makes the trip to the fastest circuit on the calendar in confident mood as he looks to continue his climb up the championship standings.
Whilst the Hyundai is still a new package for the team, the car has run well at Thruxton in the past, including back in 2022 when Daniel raced his way to three top ten finishes.
With full turbo boost to take into the weekend, Daniel will look to challenge towards the front of the field from the outset with his goal being to try and push his way into the top three overall and challenge for a first overall podium finish of the campaign.
“We’ve know we have a quick package from the first weekend of the season but Snetterton was the first real chance we’ve been able to show it in the results, and it’s given me a huge boost in confidence as we prepare to head for Thruxton,” he said.
“The team has been working hard to learn the Hyundai, and we’ve taken huge strides forwards in the three meetings so far to get to the position we now find ourselves in.
“Thruxton is a unique circuit that is unlike any other on the calendar, but it is one where the car should go well. Hopefully we can maximise that to replicate the kind of performance we displayed two weeks ago and having picked up a best result of fourth so far, I want to try and go at least one better…”
Daniel will be cheered on trackside by guests from Prosynergi, Autobrite Direct and Technology Desking, with those unable to attend in person having the opportunity to tune in on ITV4 and ITVX to the three races on Sunday at 11:45, 14:35 and 17:05
