Reigning TCR UK champion Daniel Lloyd will make his TCR Europe debut on Germany’s world-renowned Hockenheimring this coming weekend, as he joins the Brutal Fish Racing squad for rounds 3 & 4 of the European racing series (May 25/26).
The 27-year-old last raced on the former GP circuit a decade ago, taking pole position and a race win in the Scirocco R Cup, as a teenager. Most recently, Huddersfield-based Lloyd took a maiden race win in the TCR China series on his championship debut earlier this month.
“I’m really excited about making my TCR Europe debut this weekend;” said Lloyd. “It’s the highest level of racing across Europe and I’m up against some big names. We have some catching up to do to the others in the championship after missing the first race meeting.
“I know the team well now. I’ve been working with them for a while, and coaching my team-mate Martin Ryba. I think we can do a good job. I’ll be working hard to get a strong first couple of races under my belt, and hopefully some points on the board.
“I’ve only raced on the Hockenheimring twice before, but I have great memories from there. I took pole position and a win in the last Scirocco R Cup and I really like the track.”
Piloting one of the Slovakia-based Brutal Fish Racing squad’s Honda Civic Type R TCR machines, Lloyd will take to the track for the first time on Friday 24th May, for two, thirty-minute practice sessions.
Saturday, 25th May plays hosts to qualifying for rounds 3 & 4, scheduled for 10.05 and 10.40 local time (CET), ahead of race 1 at 14.40 local time, with race 2 taking place at 11.35 on Sunday, 26th May.
