Huddersfield’s Daniel Lloyd is targeting more points for his BTC Norlin Racing Team this coming weekend as the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship heads to Rockingham Speedway for the seventh meeting of the season (August 11/12).
The Yorkshireman arrives at the Northamptonshire track in confident form after taking two top ten finishes in the Honda Civic Type R at Snetterton two weeks ago and his maiden BTCC win at Croft just a few weeks earlier.
“We’re fired up for this weekend;” commented Lloyd. “We’re not too sure what to expect to be honest, but we’re heading into the races on a level playing field this time compared to Snetterton.
“It will be interesting to see how the weight plays its part on the higher placed drivers in qualifying on Saturday. I think if we can capitalise on that, being ballast-free again, and break into the top ten then that will set us up well for a strong weekend.”
The weekend marks Lloyd’s fourth BTCC meeting this season and in-spite of missing the nine opening rounds of the campaign, the 26-year-old currently sits just outside the top half of the Championship standings in 17th with his BTC Norlin Racing Team 4th in the Independent Teams’ points.
“It’s all about time in the car at the moment,” he added. “We’re still trying to find the sweet-spot and unlock the full race pace. The BTC Norlin guys are doing a great job though. I think we’ve surprised a few people and already shown that we’re capable of mixing with the big guns.
“We just need to keep pushing on, and hope for that little bit of luck now.”
