A title-deciding showdown awaits Daniel Lloyd this weekend as the Yorkshireman heads back to the Sepang International Circuit ready to do battle for the 2020 TCR Malaysia Championship title.
Claiming his first series victory last time out in the Brutal Fish Racing Honda Civic Type R, Lloyd heads into the season finale with a 19 point lead ahead of his nearest rival Engstler, with a maximum of 55 points on offer from the final two races of the campaign.
“We’ve had an excellent run in the Series so far;” said Lloyd. “Thanks to our strong results so far we go into the final two rounds with a good lead in the Championship. With the Hyundai being so strong here though, we can’t afford to take any chances.
“The guys have worked really hard all over the winter to give me a great car. It would be an awesome start to our year to win the Championship with them. It would also put us in really good form for the start of our TCR Europe campaign. I’m expecting a tough battle from Engstler, and I’m sure that he won’t make it easy for me. Fingers crossed, we can have another solid weekend of results and bring the Title home.”
Lloyd’s title-challenging weekend gets underway today (28th February) with two afternoon free practice sessions. Saturday (29th February) features the all-important qualifying sessions between 09.00-09.35 local time (01.00-01.35 UK time) ahead of rounds 5 and 6 which are scheduled for 11.10 and 14.50 local time (03.10 and 06.50 UK time).
