Daniel Lloyd and the Brutal Fish Racing Team arrive in Austria this week on the hunt for points, as the TCR Europe Series picks up pace once more for rounds 7 and 8 on the picturesque Red Bull Ring (July 13-14).
The 27-year-old Yorkshireman has had a rough ride since making his TCR Europe debut in Germany, with his indisputable pace unrewarded during his two-race meeting appearances.
Hit with a grid-place penalty at Hockenheim and a qualifying mix-up in Spa, the ABRACS and Mend-A-Hose racer is determined to convert his strong race performance into results on the world-famous GP circuit this weekend.
Set in the spectacular surroundings of the Styrian Mountains, Lloyd faces fierce competition with 29 racers entered into the two-race format on the 2.68-mile track. Renowned as a power circuit, the highlight of the lap sees drivers tackle the exhilarating Rindt right-hand bend.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back out with the Brutal Fish squad again;” said Lloyd. “It’s been 10 years since I last raced at the Red Bull Ring in the Scirocco R Cup. It’s an amazing track with a great history, and I think it will suit our Honda Civic Type R well.”
“We haven’t had the best start to our campaign so far;” he added. “After entering the series late, we’ve shown that we have the pace but a number of things have conspired against us.
“We’re more than capable of mixing it up at the front. Unfortunately, we’ve just not been able to convert that into results yet. I’m confident that we’ll be quick again this weekend. We just need a little bit of luck on our side to pick up the points.”
Rounds 7 and 8 of the TCR Europe Series get underway with two-morning qualifying sessions scheduled for 10.10 and 10.45 (CET) on Saturday (July 13). Race 1 takes place at 15.05 (CET) on Saturday, with race 2 commencing at 11.30 (CET) on Sunday (July 14).
