Daniel Lloyd enjoyed a positive opening session in the #93 Porsche 911 GT3 R (991) — run by German outfit Herberth Motorsport — marking his return to GT racing in this weekend’s Dubai 24H event.

28-year-old Lloyd will split driving duties with team-mates, Antares Au, Ian Loggie and Steffen Goerig competing in the AM class during the round-the-clock challenge.

“It’s great to be back in a Porsche again;” commented Lloyd. “We had a really positive opening run on new tyres for the first time yesterday and managed to set the 4th fastest time overall in the practice session.

“I haven’t driven a GT car competitively in five years, so I feel sure that there’s plenty still to come. All of my teammates also took a big step forward. We have lots of work ahead of the race, but the initial signs are really encouraging.”

Lloyd will be the lead driver in the #93 machine, completing around eight-hours of driving across the event at the world-famous UAE Dubai Autodrome.

Qualifying takes place at 11.30 am (UK time) on Thursday 14th January, with the 24-Hour race scheduled for 11.00 am (UK time) on Friday 15th.
