Daniel Lloyd is looking for a repeat performance of last month’s opening TCR Malaysia meeting as he returns to the Sepang International Circuit for rounds 3 and 4 this coming weekend.

The Yorkshireman took a solid double podium for his Brutal Fish Racing Team in the season opener just three weeks ago and arrives at the Kuala Lumpur track with a four-point lead in the Championship standings.

Making his debut in the three-meeting series back in January, 27-year-old Lloyd was immediately fast out of the box, claiming P2 during Saturday morning’s qualifying sessions before clinching a commanding 2nd place in both of the afternoon 30-minute races.

Representing Japanese marque Honda in the Brutal Fish Racing Team-run Civic Type R, the ABRACS-backed racer showed impressive race craft to secure the double podium on the circuit’s long, high-speed straights which typically favour the Hyundai chassis.

“It’s great to be heading back to Sepang again this week;” said Lloyd. “We initially thought that last month would be a one-off appearance, but the Brutal Fish Racing Team has pulled out all of the stops again to make sure that we’re there to keep our championship title fight alive.

“We’re leading the championship heading into the weekend;” he added. “But I expect a couple of tough races this weekend. The circuit really plays to the strengths of our competitors, so we’re going to have to race hard and take the fight to Hyundai.

“I’m really happy to be racing back in Asia. I have a lot of happy memories from my time there. Sepang is a circuit that I know well now. Hopefully, we can capitalise on our championship lead and keep the title in sight.”

Lloyd takes to the track for the first time on Friday (14th February) for the two free practice sessions, before qualifying at 19.10-19.45 local time (11.10-11.45 UK time). Rounds 3 and 4 of the TCR Malaysia Series take place on Saturday (15th February) at 11.00 and 14.35 local time (03.00 and 06.35 UK time).
