TCR UK Champion Daniel Lloyd re-joins the Dongfeng Honda Racing Team in China this coming weekend as the TCR China series reconvenes for rounds 3 & 4 on the Shanghai International Circuit (1/2 June).
The Yorkshireman arrives at the world-famous GP circuit at the top of the championship standings after taking a resounding victory in the 2019 curtain-raiser at Zhuhai last month, with the MacPro Racing-run squad also leading the Teams’ championship.
Although having only raced on the 5.45km Shanghai circuit once before, the ABRACS and Mend-A-Hose-backed racer secured a double race win there competing in the GT Asia Series back in 2015.
“It’s great coming back to Shanghai again this weekend;” commented Lloyd. “I absolutely love the circuit, and have great memories of winning here on my last visit.
“We’ve had a brilliant start to the season so far, taking a race win and podium in the opening round. We mustn’t get complacent though, we still had a few issues to overcome. I’m hoping for a clearer couple of races this time around and to hopefully extend our lead at the top of the championship.
“We made some big improvements to the car during the first round so fingers crossed we should be even stronger in Shanghai. The MacPro Racing team have a great deal of experience behind them, and the will to win.
“I’m looking forward to getting back out in the Honda Civic Type R and seeing how far we’ve moved on from the last round.”
The TCR China grid will once again run alongside the TCR Asia series in Shanghai, meaning Lloyd will be competing with racers from the Regional and National series’.
