After the final flag of the season fell at the last round at Brands Hatch, I’ve been busier than ever organising two big events for all of my sponsors and DLR Club Members. This has been my first ever full season competing in the BTCC and it’s been incredible, it’s where I want to be moving forwards so I’ve been working so hard to make sure I’m on that grid in 2022. Here’s a little taste of what we’ve been up to over the past three weeks.

First up was an exclusive Black Tie Dinner Ball. I wanted to host something like this as a thank you for all the support I’ve had this season. It’s a great way of getting my sponsors and club members together to celebrate the season, meet one another and also network. It’s the first year I’ve ever held an event like this but it was a huge success! We had around 70 guests, a live band, a DJ, a three-course meal along with two pro-photographers and a videographer who were there to capture the evening. I got the chance to do a speech and say some words, the drinks were flowing and the whole room was up dancing by the end of the night! Sponsors brought along a mixture of family, friends and clients and a brilliant night was had by all! The feedback was great. It’s certainly something I’ll be aiming to do again at the end of next season! Although, I think I’m going to need to plan on having a lot more there than 70!

Last week saw us head to Silverstone for my Annual Sponsors Track Day. This is something that I’ve organised in the past – back when I was racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup. It’s an amazing thing to do but it’s a very expensive day to put on so you need a strong core of sponsors to be able to justify it. This year I decided to go all out and make it as good as possible to set the tone for years to come. We had 25 guests and the day was held on the Silverstone GP circuit. We had four cars for the guests to drive, two Clio Cup Cars, a track day spec BMW M2, and an Aston Martin Vantage. On top of this, we had a 750bhp Time Attack BMW M3 on hand for me to take our guests out on track for hot laps.

We had five pro instructors in attendance, catering and hospitality throughout the day, two garages to ourselves, two pro-photographers, a videographer and even trophies for the driver of the day, the most improved driver and a commemorative trophy for everyone who took part. The pro-instructors scored the guests throughout the day to add a bit of competitiveness to the day, which added an extra element of fun. The track-day was a huge success and then the majority of guests went on to stay at Whittlebury Park that evening and meet up for a meal and drinks.

After the dinner ball and the track-day, relationships started to form and it was great for me to see everyone getting on very well. Obviously, the main part of the sponsorship packages I put together are things like VIP Hospitality tickets, branding, client hospitality etc but when new friendships are formed through experiences like this it’s an added bonus.

I had a great end to the 2021 season and the goal for next year is certainly to be back on the BTCC grid. At the moment I’m talking to a number of different teams including PMR but there’s no offer on the table at the moment. I need to make the best decision I can for not just for next season but for the 2023 season as well. My job is to make the right decision then go away and raise the budget needed for 2022. The aim is to keep all of my sponsors on board from this year but to find some new partnerships as well.

If there are any companies or individuals out there that are interested or curious about becoming a sponsor and what the benefits are please don’t hesitate and get in touch. Normally It just starts with a casual chat which then leads on to me making a couple of different proposals.

I’d like to finish by saying a big thank you to all of my sponsors and DLR Club members for the support this season, I couldn’t have done it without them! Next year should be bigger and better!

“We’ve been involved with Dan for several years now and have worked on some great projects together. This years dinner ball was a great evening for our staff and felt like a real celebration. The end of season track day was an awesome event! We took one of our key clients to this and they had an amazing time. This is sure to strengthen our relationship with them in the future. Thanks to Dan for putting on these events. We’re already looking forward to next year!”
