Daniel Lloyd brought the curtain down on his season with the annual DLR dinner ball at which those who supported his Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship programme came together to reflect on the 2023 campaign.

The black-tie event at Casa Brighouse allowed Daniel to thank his various racing partners after a season that saw him secure a top-three finish in the Independents’ Championship standings at the wheel of a Team HARD-run Cupra Leon.

Guests in attendance were treated to a three-course meal as well as live music from both a band and saxophonist, with further entertainment provided by a magician and a DJ.

A special auction – where Daniel offered a 2023 race suit, a bonnet from his race car, and even the driveshaft that cost him a win at Donington Park – proved to be popular with attendees, whilst one lucky winner picked up a new Playstation 5 kindly donated by 1st Locate.

A key part of the evening was a special raffle organised alongside Iain Henderson Designs, a Yorkshire-based jeweller that joined forces with Daniel to sponsor the event.
The Bingley-based business – which focuses on providing individuals looking for custom-made, one-off pieces that they will not find elsewhere – worked with Daniel to create a pair of special bespoke platinum diamond earrings, including top-grade stones, with the total carat weight for both earrings coming in at just under the 1ct mark.

“The DLR dinner ball was a huge success, and the earrings that Iain created proved to be particularly popular,” Daniel said. “I have to say a massive thank you to Iain for coming onboard to make a long-held idea become reality, and there is no doubting the fact that those in attendance were as impressed as I was by the result

“The ball is a key part of my season as I know how important it is to thank the various partners who provide me with the backing that is vital to go racing. In total, 130 people were able to come together to reflect on a season that provided its challenges, but also had several highlights as we worked to develop the Cupra and move the car up the grid.

“Trying to organise the ball is almost as stressful as trying to put my racing programme in place, so it was fantastic to see everyone enjoy themselves and have a good time as it makes all the effort worthwhile.

“Now is the time to have a very short break before the focus turns to 2024 and making sure I can return to the BTCC grid for another season.”
